 Pharmacy Managment System Project
Home > About MoH > MoH Projects > Pharmacy Managment System Project

The Ministry of Health has embarked on a Project to implement a third-party Pharmacy Management System. This is a joint-venture Project with Project Team Members drawn from the SMC Pharmacy, Directorate of Materials Management, Directorate of Finance, SMC Administration, Health Centre Pharmacies, External Hospital Pharmacies, Health Information Directorate and representatives from the medical staff – doctors and nurses.

The objectives of the Project are primarily to control consumption of Drugs and thus reduce expenditure; and to provide improved patient care by monitoring prescriptions against patients’ medical history (eg allergies, dietary needs, other drugs prescribed, etc).

As well as installing personal computers (PC) at the Pharmacy counters, there will be an upgrade of existing equipment and PCs will also be introduced to every doctor’s office in the out-patient clinics in order that prescriptions can be raised electronically.

The Project will initially be implemented at the SMC Pharmacy and will encompass all departments (including wards, out-patient clinics and operating theatres) that receive drugs from the Pharmacy.

Once the Application is seen to be operating successfully, a second Project will be initiated to roll out to the Health Centres and external Hospitals.
